Annis & Richards Win by Slim Margins at Sugar Hill Annis also claimed a win in the Tiger Sprint ‘A’ division on Sunday. Parker Mullins and Brad Zahensky rounded out the top 3. Fans were shocked when two races later there was an even closer finish in the Tiger Sprint ‘B’ division. When the green flew, it was Jeremy Decourcy that set the early pace of the race. Decourcy tried to hang tough when Dylan Boutwell and Alex Richards hooked onto his back bumper and then moved by to run nose to tail in the first and second spots. Decourcy settled into third. The second half of the race saw Boutwell and Richards slingshot back and forth at the front of the pack. At the finish, it looked like a dead heat for the fans in the stands. But, for Alex Richards, it turned out to be a finish by 1/100th of a second margin of victory and a present for his Dad who celebrated his birthday on Sunday. Other close races on Sunday included a hard battle in the Jr. Sportsman Champ division presented by Amigos Mexican Cantina. Jack Lithgow did battle with Austin Brehio. Brehio continually looked for a way by Lithgow, but he could never get a decent run off the corners to make the pass stick. For Lithgow, the win was his second of the weekend after winning the Sugar Hill 500 on Saturday. The entry level Tiger Sprint ‘C’ division saw a first time winner in Dylan Rock. Rock turned in a solid performance, which was almost spoiled by Ashley Boutwell. Rock worked lapped traffic for much of the race, but it was the same lapped traffic that allowed Boutwell to draw up side by side as the white flag flew. Checkers waving, Rock was all smiles and didn’t quite realize how close Boutwell was as she turned in a second place finish. DJ Lazelle notched another win in the Jr. Outlaw ‘B’ division and his second of the weekend. Lazelle has set the benchmark for the competitors in the division. Katelyn Jeski turned in her best results of the season in second. Another driver turning in a solid performance each week is Dylan Payea in the Box Stock Heavy Oval division. Payea has numerous wins in the 2008 season and is a top contender for the championship. The other top contender is Eric Williams who turned in a second place finish on Sunday. Other winners on Sunday included Brittney Burant in the Eurasian Autoworks LTD Jr. Champ division, Chris Kenyon in the Sr. Outlaw division, and Sean Murphy in the SH Modified division. Racing action resumes next Sunday, July 13th.
